Later from Texas. — The brig Maria
Spears, Felt, master, arrived yesterday from Galveston, whence she
sailed on the 3d instant. We received no papers by her, but learn
verbally that the Convention had not adjourned on the 1st
inst.
There had been no arrival from Corpus
Christi at Galveston. The brig Hope Howes, Shaw, from this port,
arrived on the 1st inst., and the steamer White Wing on the
3d – the latter was to sail on the following day for Corpus Christi.
The steamer Leo had been chartered; and sailed for Corpus Christi on
the 22d ultimo.
The Maria Spears spoke, on the 4th
inst., off Ship Island shoals, the U. S. brig Porpois, steering to the
S. and W. She left at Galveston the brig Reaper, loading for
Baltimore, and the brig Rodney, to sail for the same port on the 7th
inst.
The ship Constitution, Jackson, master, of
Hollowell, Maine, sailed from Galveston on the 1st inst. for
Genoa; via Boston. The schooner Angeline sailed on the 31st
ult. for Corpus Christi.
