The “Army of Occupation” still remained
encamped at Corpus Christi as late as the 19th inst. There
were rumors afloat that some of the reconnoitering parties sent out
towards the Rio Grande had met and had a brush with the Mexicans, but
these reports were not credited. The publication of the Corpus
Christi Gazette is to be continued after the removal of the army.
