The Mexican papers translate from the N. Y.
Sun a pitiable account of the sufferings of Gen. Taylor’s troops at Corpus
Christi. The distress of the officers, for want of fire, truffled
turkeys, and other like incentives to arduous service, is depicted in
terms to draw tears of anguish from the man of sensibility. The Mexicans
rejoice to find the army demoralized by its sufferings, and promise
themselves that it will fall an easy prey.
