January 31, 1846 Article 2

 

One of our Texas correspondents — something of a wag by the way — says that a new sect of Christians, numbering near 5000, have sprung up in Western Texas within the last six or eight months.  They are entirely under the control of Father Zachary, and are called Corpus Christians.

 

Be Prepared! — The Washington correspondent of the Baltimore Patriot says it is understood that despatches have gone off requiring the Home Squadron to repair forthwith to the vicinity of Vera Cruz and the Army in Texas, and to be there to proceed to the most available point near the bank of the Rio del Norte to meet the Mexican forces, should they be sent into Texas.
