WAR DEPARTMENT, December 8, 1846.
Sir: In compliance with a resolution of the Senate of the 1st of July last,
requiring the Secretary of War “to furnish the Senate with the names of the
officers, non-commissioned officers, and private soldiers in the army under
General Taylor, who were killed, wounded, or missing in the recent battles
of the 8th and 9th of May, with their age, occupation, and place of birth,”
I have the honor to enclose herewith a statement prepared by the Adjutant
General of the army, containing the desired information.
