          Served:  at the Cavalry School for Practice at Carlisle, Pa., 1840; in the Florida War, 1840-41; in garrison at Baton Rouge, La., 1841, -- and at Ft. Jesup, La., 1841-42; on Recruiting service, 1842; on frontier duty at Ft. Jesup, La., 1842-44; in garrison at Jefferson Barracks, Mo.,

(First Lieut., 2d Dragoons, Aug. 31, 1843)

1844-45; in Military Occupation of Texas, 1845-46; in the War with Mexico, 1846-47, being engaged in the battle of Palo Alto, May 8, 1846,

(Major, 10th Infantry, Apr. 9, 1847)

and Battle of Resaca-de-la-Palma, May 9, 1846; and in garrison at Carlisle Barracks, Pa., 1848.

(Lieut.-Colonel, 16th Infantry, May 23, 1848)

Disbanded, July 20, 1848.

          Reinstated in the U. S. Army by Act of Congress of Feb. 19, 1848, as

First Lieut., 2d Dragoons, to rank from Aug. 31, 1843.

          Served:  at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., 1848-49; and on frontier duty at Ft. Graham, Tex., 1849-50, -- Austin, Tex., 1850, -- Ft. Graham, Tex.,
